Survey Finds Support for Smoking Ban in Cars with Children

The University of Michigan released a survey which found that 82% of American adults support a ban that would prohibit smoking in cars that are carrying children below the age of 13.  This ban is supported by current, former, and never-smokers alike; with 60% of current smokers in support of this ban and 87% and 84% of never and former smokers supporting it respectively.  There are currently seven states that have this ban in place:  Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Maine, Illinois, Oregon, and Utah.  Several additional states have similar legislation enacted in specific cities or counties.
