Smoking-cessation interventions can increase successful quitting, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance patients’ health and well-being. This study assesses changes in the availability of hospital-affiliated smoking-cessation programs over time in the U.S.
CDC launched the Tips From Former Smokers® (Tips®) campaign, the first federally funded anti-smoking ad campaign, in March, 2012. CDC analyzed data from a nationally representative longitudinal survey of U.S. adults who smoked cigarettes during 2012–2018 to determine the campaign’s impact on quit attempts and sustained quits.
