Findings Show the Harmful Impact of Menthol Cigarettes

A collection of studies focusing on the harmful effects of menthol cigarettes were recently published in a special issue of Nicotine and Tobacco Research. Across these studies, menthol cigarettes were found to be preferred by youth, women, and certain minority groups, to possibly increase the rate of smoking initiation among youth, to increase the addiction potential of tobacco, and to make quitting smoking more difficult among individuals belonging to certain groups.
