U.S. Navy Bans Smoking on Submarines

Due to the dangers of second hand smoke, the U.S. Navy officially banned smoking in the confines of submarines on January 1st. Approximately 30-50% of the 132 enlisted submariners on one vessel--the USS Charlotte--were smokers prior to the ban, though some credit the ban with motivating them to quit for good.
