Younger Smokers More Likely To Smoke Menthol -- December 14, 2009
Data from the 2004 to 2008 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health showed that almost one third of current smokers smoked menthol cigarettes, and of those, younger smokers were more likely to smoke menthol cigarettes (44.8% of smokers ages 12 to 17 compared to 30.1% of smokers 26 years or older). The FDA is cracking down on internet marketed cigarettes - November 16, 2009
The FDA recently sent out a warning letter to tobacco companies who are soliciting fruit and candy flavored cigarettes to American consumers on their websites. If the companies do not bring their products into compliance, the FDA may take additional regulatory action. Read more here. 

New York City Bans all Candy -- November 2, 2009
The mayor of New York City signed a bill on October 14, banning the sale of any flavored tobacco products. This new legislation is stricter than the previous guidelines set up by the FDA. Read more here.

Electronic Cigarettes are the Loophole -- November 2, 2009
In Texas, electronic cigarettes are permitted in bars and restaurants, where cigarettes are banned. In light of these new developments, officials are reviewing electronic cigarettes in order to update laws and include these new devices. Learn more here.

Smoking is Detrimental to Young Adults’ Arteries -- November 2, 2009
A recent study in Canada has found that young smokers’ arteries become stiff after being stressed, the exact opposite of what happens in non smokers. Smoking even a minimal amount of cigarettes has an impact on arterial stiffness, making it harder to complete cardiovascular tasks. Read more here.
